Oh I Got This.....

Allow me to offer some helpful parenting advice - and here it goes.

Get your credit cards out parents because of this....this magical toy.  This toy is going to allow me to clean, cook, answer emails, make phone calls, fix my hair, write blog posts and live my life in a way I thought was lost to me.  This is the thing that will change my life as a new mother.  It has everything, it makes rattling noise,  has flashing lights, a mirror, it plays various songs and guess what? It even rolls!  Eliza will love the independence she will feel. This is going to entertain her for hours! It truly is magic in a box and I have myself to thank for this most excellent purchase.

Let me document her exciting journey of discovery. Daddy just needs to make a few tray adjustments first.

Okay it is starting to sink in and she can tell how amazing this is.  Oh my goodness she is going to freak out when she realizes that it moves around.

How exciting to see her learning.  But still waiting on her to start moving around....and waiting.....and waiting.  I believe there might be a problem.  Ahhh yes that is a problem.  Better luck in a few months.

10 Wishes for Baby

Although I have many more wishes for Eliza, these are a few that stick out in my mind.....  

1. Happiness.
2. You grow up to be a lady.
3. Your faith in God is based on knowledge and not ignorance.
4. You take advantage of the opportunities we provide for you.
5. You have goals and ambition.
6. That you have common sense (oh how I pray for this!). 
7. You know you can trust us with anything.
8. You have the ability to advocate and stand up for yourself. 
9. You choose the life you want by investing in yourself and your education, so you will always have options.
10. That I get to keep you forever.

Am I Really Doing This?

I have been going back and forth on the idea of starting a blog.  It is a big undertaking considering the craziness that is my average day, but I decided to give it a try.  This is more for Eliza to look back on (hopefully fondly), and so most of my entries will probably be addressed to her.  Since she is already 3 months old I thought I would do a quick recap of her life so far......


4.4.14 - You were born by a scheduled c-section (at exactly 40 weeks) at 8:58 am.  You were 7 lbs and 4 oz and were originally 18.5 inches long, but you stretched out more the next day and were actually 19.5. You were very upset at the birthing process, and you were so angry we could not even tell who you looked like.

Who will you look like?

Lucky for us you calmed down. Although you did get kicked out of the nursery later for being too loud.

I do not remember much about the hospital because I was pretty much medicated and overwhelmed.   I think you look just like your Daddy, but everyone disagrees with me.  I remember being happy to go home and dressing you in a cute little outfit your Dad picked out for you. 

You have always been a strong baby and proved that by rolling over on your side at 4 days old and rolling over at 6.5 weeks.  There is no laying you down on the bed and walking away that is for sure. You are a very happy baby and a morning person, most of the pictures I take are done early in the day.

It is amazing to see how much you have grown already.

Ready to go to the pool!

A few other neat life events for you happened just this last week. You went on your first vacation to Florida, first airplane ride (first-class of course), attended a wedding (more to come on that), went to the ocean and dipped your toes in a pool. All while looking super adorable.

Daddy is protecting you from the sharks! Daniel was born in Sarasota and it was neat visiting a beach he probably visited as a baby to.

You have also discovered your hands and think they are the greatest things ever to chew on.  It is making it difficult to get pictures, but it is oh so cute.

I still get overwhelmed sometimes, but I am enjoying watching you grow. Everyday you amaze me and I am so proud of everything you do. I am so lucky to have this time with you and learn how to be the best Mom to you that I can be.
